Future Plans

Trustees are aware of their responsibility in setting a strategy for the RPLC that is able to respond to the changing needs of vulnerable people and voluntary sector organisations in Richmond .

Within the total grant giving programme we continue to prioritize certain projects:

  • Support for vulnerable young people;
  • Focussing help in the areas of Mortlake and Ham and
  • Directing more funding towards mental health issues.

This coming year sees the start of work on the fourth priority: support for those affected by family breakdown.

All of us involved in Richmond Parish Lands Charity feel a sense of privilege for the chance to participate, whilst being inspired by what is being achieved. Through close links with the Council, other organisations in the voluntary sector and forums which we run to coordinate aid to particular causes or groups, we try to ensure that we help those in the greatest need. However we are keenly aware that there are still many areas of real deprivation and distress which we cannot reach, even in an affluent borough like Richmond .

As you read this report, if you know of organisation within our benefit area which deserves our help, or if you know of individuals who would be eligible for our personal grants, contact us, so that we may have the chance to help them.

a) Spring 2009 Conference on Family Breakdown
The Trustees are mindful of the potential devastating impact of Family Breakdown in society in general and on all members of the affected families.  In Spring 2009 a conference is being organised by the RPLC with the aim of bringing together representatives from a wide range of organisations associated with family breakdown including: counselling services, legal advice, domestic violence support, citizens advice etc.  It is hoped that the Conference will provide some focus as to which areas the RPLC may be able to support through grants during the financial year beginning July 2009.  It is hoped also that the event will encourage greater collaboration and understanding between the different organisations attending.

b) Grant awards
In the next 12 months, the Trustees expect one-off project awards to be principally targeted in support of the current priority of help for the communities of Ham & Mortlake

c) Review of Investment Managers
Trustees have agreed to a recommendation from the Finance and Investment Committee that we undertake a review of our Investment Managers and identify which company may be best suited to carry forward our requirements for the next four to five years.
