CONSOLIDATING PREVIOUSLY FUNDED PROJECTS

The RPLC Trustees have discussed a number of possible priority areas for grant giving over the coming five years.  The current economic climate is precarious and many local organisations are concerned about income levels. Trustees have therefore decided that in the year to June 2011 strategic funding will be used to consolidate on work previously funded by the RPLC in support of strategic priorities including: vulnerable young, mental health, family breakdown and initiatives in Ham and Mortlake.  Further information as to how funds will be distributed will be published in due course.

RPLC BACKGROUND

King George IIIRichmond Parish Lands Charity (RPLC) was endowed by a gift of land from King George III and Queen Charlotte in 1786 and reconstituted in its present form in 1968. Its principal objectives are the making of grants for charitable purposes to voluntary organisations in Richmond, Surrey and a social housing operation comprising nearly 100 dwellings.

The value of the assets owned by the Charity is over £50 million of which more than a third is invested in the Stock Market providing an annual income of over £950,000, most of which is given in grants. The contribution of the charity to Richmond, both in grant making and in the housing field is substantial. The organisation is well established and highly regarded for its support of the local voluntary sector.
